Chapter 15: The Last Truth Elena Left Behind

For a moment, nobody understood.

Daniel looked at the officer.

"No.""

The word came out quietly.

Almost like a child refusing a nightmare.

"No.""

The officer placed the document down.

"The account is under Elena Vale's name.""

Daniel stared.

"That doesn't make sense.""

Renata picked up the paper.

She read it carefully.

Then she looked at Daniel.

"Wait.""

Everyone turned toward her.

Her eyes moved across the page again.

"This isn't a payment authorization.""

"What?""

Renata pointed.

"It's a transfer record.""

Daniel frowned.

"Meaning?""

"Meaning someone used Elena's identity.""

The room shifted.

The truth changed again.

Daniel felt exhausted.

But he also felt something else.

Hope.

Because this was Elena.

She had been fighting until the end.

She wouldn't have done this.

She wouldn't have destroyed everything she loved.

"Look at the dates," Renata said.

Daniel moved closer.

The transactions happened after Elena's death.

His eyes narrowed.

"Someone continued using her name.""

The officer nodded.

"Exactly.""

Someone had been pretending to be Elena.

Someone had been moving money.

Someone had been controlling the story from the shadows.

Daniel looked at everyone.

"Who had access?""

Nobody answered.

Then Sofia spoke.

"Daddy.""

Everyone looked at her.

She held the picture book again.

The same one.

The one where everything started.

"Mommy told me something.""

Daniel knelt.

"What?""

"She said bad people don't always look scary.""

His heart tightened.

"What else?""

Sofia touched the book.

"She said sometimes they are the person who brings you flowers when you are sad.""

The room became silent.

Because Daniel remembered.

After Elena died...

The person who brought flowers.

The person who sat beside him.

The person who told him everything would be okay.

The person who helped him handle the funeral.

The person who became part of his life.

Renata looked at him.

"You know.""

Daniel didn't answer.

Because he did.

But he needed to see it.

He needed proof.

The officer received a message.

Then his face changed.

"We found something.""

Everyone waited.

"The person who accessed Elena's accounts.""

Daniel held his breath.

The officer looked at him.

"It wasn't Renata.""

A pause.

"It wasn't Marcus.""

Another pause.

"It was someone using a company device registered to...""

Daniel already knew.

He closed his eyes.

The answer hurt even though he expected it.

"Who?""

The officer said:

"Your former business partner.""

Daniel opened his eyes.

His former partner.

The man who had helped build his company.

The man he trusted more than anyone after Elena died.

The man who had introduced him to Renata.

The final piece fell into place.

He wasn't looking at a revenge story.

He was looking at a takeover.

A plan.

A carefully built trap.

Renata had come for answers.

Marcus had come to hide mistakes.

Dolores had been trapped by fear.

But someone else had used all of them.

Daniel walked to the window.

The sun was rising.

The same sunlight that had entered the room the day everything changed.

Only now, he finally understood Elena's warning.

The house remembered.

The truth remembered.

And his wife had left enough clues for him to find it.

Sofia walked beside him.

"Daddy?""

He looked down.

"Yes?""

"Is it over?""

Daniel looked at his daughter.

At the little girl who had tried to speak when nobody wanted to listen.

At the child who had carried the truth longer than anyone should have.

He smiled sadly.

"No.""

Sofia looked worried.

He held her hand.

"It's finally beginning.""

Because somewhere outside that house, the person who had spent a year hiding behind lies still believed they had won.

They believed Elena's voice was gone.

They believed Daniel would never discover the truth.

They believed Sofia was only a child.

They were wrong.

The little girl who was told not to speak had started everything.

And now, the entire world was about to hear what she had been trying to say.
