Chapter 6: The Person Who Wanted Our Family Broken

A week after everything changed, our house received a visitor.

Someone I didn’t expect.

Someone who would reopen every wound we thought we were finally healing.

My father answered the door.

The moment he saw the person standing outside, his expression changed.

“Why are you here?””

I was sitting in the living room and immediately noticed the tension.

Mia came downstairs.

Then she stopped.

Because she recognized her too.

It was her biological mother.

Rachel.

The woman who had left years earlier.

The woman Mia had spent years pretending she didn’t miss.

Rachel smiled like she was walking into a normal family gathering.

“Daniel.””

My father’s face remained cold.

“Rachel.””

The silence was uncomfortable.

I looked at Mia.

She looked frozen.

“Mom?””

Rachel’s eyes softened.

“There’s my girl.””

But Mia didn’t move.

Not toward her.

Not away.

Just stood there.

Confused.

Because some people leave for years…

Then return expecting the door to still be open.

Rachel looked around the house.

“So this is where everyone lives now.””

My father stepped outside slightly.

“This isn’t a good time.””

“I came to see my daughter.””

Mia finally spoke.

“Why now?””

Rachel looked hurt.

“I’ve been thinking about you.””

Mia laughed quietly.

“Thinking about me?””

The pain in her voice surprised me.

“You disappeared.””

Rachel looked down.

“I made mistakes.””

“No.””

Mia shook her head.

“You made choices.””

The room became silent.

I had never seen Mia speak like that.

Not angry.

Just broken.

Rachel looked toward my father.

“I heard there was some family drama.””

My father’s expression hardened.

“How did you hear that?””

She ignored the question.

“I heard Mia was blamed for some dress incident.””

Mia immediately looked uncomfortable.

My stomach tightened.

“How does she know that?””

Rachel smiled slightly.

“That’s not important.””

My father stared at her.

“It is very important.””

Rachel stepped inside.

“I just think everyone needs to be careful.””

“Careful?””

“Yes.””

She looked at me.

And I immediately felt something was wrong.

“You seem like a nice girl.””

I said nothing.

“But sometimes people who enter families don’t realize the damage they cause.””

My eyebrows pulled together.

My father immediately stepped between us.

“Enough.””

Rachel smiled.

“There it is.””

“What?””

“You always defend her.””

The room went silent.

I felt the old tension returning.

But this time, something was different.

Because Mia stepped forward.

“No.””

Everyone looked at her.

Rachel blinked.

“No?””

Mia shook her head.

“Don’t do this.””

Her mother looked confused.

“Do what?””

“Don’t make me choose sides.””

Rachel’s expression changed.

“I’m your mother.””

Mia’s eyes filled with tears.

“And you left.””

That sentence was quiet.

But powerful.

Rachel had no response.

Mia looked at me.

Then at my father.

And for the first time, she stood with us.

Not because she had to.

Because she wanted to.

But Rachel wasn’t finished.

Before leaving, she turned around.

“You all think you’re happy now.””

She smiled faintly.

“But you don’t know the whole story.””

My father frowned.

“What story?””

Rachel looked directly at Mia.

“The reason I left.””

Mia froze.

“What?””

Rachel opened the door.

“Ask your father.””

Then she walked away.

Leaving behind one sentence that changed everything.

Because suddenly, the family secret wasn’t about Mia.

May you like

It was about my father.

And nobody knew what would happen when the truth finally came out. :::
